Tony Surridge invited to first Presidential Dinner hosted by the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA)

Tony Surridge Online was in guest attendance at the first Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) presidential dinner, held on 20th April 2010. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) was the venue host, kindly offering the IFA use of their prestigious headquarters building in London – 1 Moorgate Place. IFA President, Professor David Hunt, welcomed everybody and promoted an evening of friendship and new alliances, before introducing his guest speaker, Angela Knight (CBE) – Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association. Angela offered her experience and views on the banking industry, the turbulent times just gone, and the expectations and goals ahead.

The black-tie dinner was superb (praise goes out to the ICAEW staff on hand that night), and IFA first Presidential dinner at ICAEW hall in london the evening offered great opportunity for various IFA accounting council members, institutes, accounting governing bodies, and leading educational providers alike to chat, network, build relationships, and generally discuss the future of things to come.

Some prominent guess invited included; Mr Clive Parritt (Vice President of ICAEW), My David Woodgate (Chief Executive of IFA), Mr Roderick Wilkes (Chief Executive of The Chartered Institute of Marketing), Ms Laurie Gillow (Executive Director of Association of Certified Charted Accountants), Mr. Michael Conlon (President of Institute of Indirect Taxation), and Mr. Chris Surridge (Managing Director of Tony Surridge Online). The venue was host to approximately 100 industry guests.

Chris Surridge, MD of http://www.TonySurridge.co.uk/ particularly enjoyed the evening. “The IFA are pushing out and doing a good job of promoting their services. This is their first Presidential Dinner but not their first event by any means. The IFA are active in promoting their governing body, with regional events hosted regularly, from effective networking groups, through to CPD seminars, and even awards ceremonies for recognition of industry contribution. I have had the privilege of attending a couple of these events myself, and will help in the promotion of their institute in whatever way I can. I believe the future of the British economy will be sustained through the protection and subsequent growth of small businesses, and the IFA are geared towards helping the accountants who in turn advise such small businesses.”

Mr. Tony Surridge, another partner and lead author and lecturer at http://www.TonySurridge.co.uk , was himself awarded high recognition by the IFA, with the President Professor David Hunt presenting him the accolade of “Best Accountancy Lecturer 2009” back in November of last year.
